I think there are a number of folks (specifically US military) that know fairly certainly how much is leaking, that fact that they haven't said a word about it while the media and the government tell us there's nothing to worry about scares the shit out of me.  We were told Chernobyl was a mild leak for 2 weeks, same for Three Mile Island, only longer.  The fact that 600,000 spent rods went up in that spectacular explosion in Fukushima 3 should be more than enough reason for our "leaders" to relay to us every reading on every meter they have positioned around the globe.  The sad part is it will take years before the effects of the plume show themselves on the people of the west coast and by then it will be forgotten and written off to another cause.


How can this not be the end of nuclear power?

Coal power generation results in thousands of deaths a year (30 000 according to this)  Re comparing to cellphone radiation, no one seems to know what level of radiation is leaking out of the reactors in Japan so who really knows.
