Didn't Joy Division and Killing Joke take turns opening for each for a while on tour in 79 or 80?  
 
Now THAT would have been a gig worth seeing!

I would think the best, if not the most successful openers for KJ
would be The Chameleons, Cocteau Twins, Heather Nova and Skunk Anansie
