Hi all – I always think it’s weird how different people’s perception can be of the same gig.

In Blackpool I was a little too mashed to notice the sound problems, but the next day, some people told me it was awful & the worst gig they’d ever attended, (especially after the Stranglers Friday had be clear as crystal in the same hall). Others though KJ did a blinder & that the sound was so much better than 2009… I guess all down to where you stood.

Similarly, at Holmfirth, there were areas of the mosh-pit where some songs became unrecognisable, (beginning of Turn to Red particularly distorted). We think some sort of sound clash between the monitors to band, (which were VERY loud), and speakers to audience… Iain, (who was stood near the mixing desk), however, found the sound to be perfect… It was altogether loud though, and my ears are still ringing…

And I missed any sinister, rude or miserable audience members at Bristol. There was one guy in the mosh-pit who couldn’t stay on his feet, and had to keep being picked back up which was a little annoying, but he was harmless – just kept bouncing back in and falling over again. He had to be carried out at some point after hitting his head, but still came back after a couple more songs, and was still bouncing to the DJ session afterwards, with very little rhythm – it has to be said ;-)
Otherwise, I found the atmosphere in the mosh-pit was happy, bouncy & smily, (as it should be), and I thought the gig was the best of the 3, (having missed Hebden Bridge). At least the drink ledges have been removed from those front pillars now – they were so dangerous & I hated them in gigs.
As I say – I missed the long faces left of stage, but also don’t understand why they were there – either move back if you don’t want to bop, or go home if you are not enjoying it at all…

Ade – I am not sure if we’ve met before, (my memory of names/faces is terrible these days – so apologies to anybody I blank, nod at or look quizzically at – often I am just trying to remember whether I know the face, and where from??). I know I’ve met Darren once or twice – so sorry I missed both of you on Friday…

Not sure about travelling for the In Dub gig, but looking forward to whenever the next set of full-band gigs are announced, Jane

I like a bit of argy bargy down the mosh pit, but as long as we're all dancing and smiling at each other.

The best or worst (depending on your inclination) was the Astoria 1991 where there was a savage atmosphere I had friction burns on my arms-that was brilliant watching the gig was like a work out in itself!

I think there were a combination of things on Friday night. I hate saying this but there were a few miserable people down in front of Geordie who should have been sitting down at the back or something! The whole mosh shifted over a bit, and there was a portly guy with a beard and pony tail, who was getting a bit rude, maybe he was trying to protect his girlfriend?

A Killing Joke gig is always a celebration especially in smaller venues such as this and people who haven't come to celebrate or are just going to stand at the front with long faces should just fuck off!

The important thing is that I think it left everybody counting down the days till the next gig. IMO this was easily the best performance I've seen from the reformed original line up.

The Fleece was another sound performance by the band. I can echo the sentiment re the mosh. It did spoil an otherwise fine evening.
