[kj] BFI - Film

The topic of Druidry presents a challenge for even the accomplished
small-talker; difficult to bring the conversation to a conclusion
satisfactory to all parties, e.g:
You: "Are you a Druid?"
Druid: "Yes"
You: "Grand!"
Druid: "Not yet; sitting my finals this Spring Equinox"
You: "A Druid you say? Maybe you can help me, you see
there's this BUSTLE in my HEDGEROW." *elbow / wink*
Druid: *grimace*
Etc.

The film was good fun. I did not realise it was tied in with the Cythera
book. As I've read the book, it was a bit of a spoiler for the film, in a
way. I thought I'd seen all the footage possible on youtube but there was a
bit extra in the film.
Bit of news: Correct me if I'm wrong, people, but I think Jaz said he'd be
doing some book signings on a book tour at some point this year. Seems to be
calling it the Renaissance Book Tour, or something, and I think he said it
was meant to provide one-to-one access to "talk about your masterpiece".
This is probably the recruiting ground for his magickal order, talked about
in Cythera. That's my theory, at least.
Also, can we have any verification on a couple of statements he made:
-Anyone who does not swallow the official version of 9/11 is considered a
"terrorist" by US authorities and can't get into the US. He mentioned, or
implied, he'd have problems getting into the US for a tour later this year.
-Babies born in Miami are microchipped.
Jaz's old landlord was there. A quite elderly gentleman who stood up in the
Q&A bit to introduce himself and congratulate Jaz on his career. He didn't
mention the flat getting burnt down.
I met Youth outside briefly when I went for a waz break.
Me: "You don't seem to play the Wardance bassline bit on your harmonics
live. Any reason?"
Youth: "I play it differently every time, really".
Me: "Are you a Druid?"
Youth: "Yes."
Me: "You said in the film you weren't into the esoteric thing when you
joined KJ, so how did that happen?"
Youth: "I needed something to latch on to after my acid burn out. Also, my
parents are from Anglesey."
Silence.
Youth: "Are you enjoying the film?"
Me: "Yes."
Youth: "Bye, then".
Me: "Bye".

I agree it is a little long at present, but as I expect Shaun will have the
additional material on the DVD even if the release version does get some
editing, it's not a problem for me.
