Paul I completely understand. I've been teary all week. I'm absolutely gutted that Bowie has died, I had bought his new cd on the Friday before he died. I was playing one of his old albums Stage, when my Hubbie came home and told me. I was in shock and disbelief. I was lucky enough to see him twice.83 at The Serious Moonlight Tour and 87 at The Glass Spiders Tour. In the former, my sister in law, my sister and I were invited back to his after party. I was fortunate enough to meet Carlos Alomar and Earl Slick, telling them all the great places to visit. We waited til 4.30am, putting our drinks on Bowies tab, knowing we had work that morning, but he didn't turn up. I found out through a guy at work, whose parents had gone to a florist meeting the night before, that Bowie was sitting by himself at the bar at The Crest. Bummer. I share this knowing we all grew up in the era of mundanity where Bowie came and swept his magic over us. I was 11 when I got my first magazine called Spunky, where Elvis shared the cover with Bowie. I was transported on a divine trip which influenced my art, poetry and even my singing style when I sang in a band back then in the 70s and early 80s. I'm sure some of you are feeling a piece of your childhood has died as I have. He was like a mentor when growing up and pushed the boundaries of creativity for an era that was fairly mainstream. He gave us all a glimpse at what we are all capable of- change, creativity, imagination, and accepting our own uniqueness without having to 'fit in'. He also influenced bands who were major in my life back then. For me this was Joy Division. I'm currently playing an album a day and will be painting a few of his portraits. Thank you David, for a life of your music.

His name was David Buckley and he has gone on to write books on Bowie and other bands. But mainly about David.
