Nice rant!
But those weren’t on Spinefarm
They were on plastic head/let them eat vinyl
Everything they do is cheap. They will not have remastered them. Just chucked them through filters. It’s a shame how they did them I agree.
Believe me, Spinefarm have spent a lot to make sure that these are sonically better and the plans for the reissues will have something better on sleeves.
I was disappointed by the Pandemonijm remaster that cooking vinyl did. They lost the bottom end but they improved Democracy.
But let’s not get too carried away. These things are on the drawing board so are liable to change. If it happens, great.
The thing to keep in mind is that there will be some dates. Just don’t let Brian and Jon book anything up in advance cos they always jinx it!!!

I bought the initial CD remasters (Sony ?) and was excited about all of them (with the exception of EDAVRE which I’ll get to later) but ended being nothing special. All they did was was click the Loudness button on the stereo. And there was nothing special about packaging or notes. I have the original vinyl and CDs so all I ended up doing was ripping the new CDs and haven’t touched them since. Which then brings us to EDAVRE reissues.

It’s my favorite release and always thought the final mix was mushy. It’s a new company and new hope. CD comes first. I guess it sounds better but not really. And there’s the packaging that is already falling apart in the mailer. And then the vinyl.

> Like an idiot I bought two, TWO, of every color. Spent a lot of money. They show up. Which is a miracle. The mailer may as well have been tissue paper. Thinnest cardboard you can find. As a result all of upper right corner smashed. Huge smash. Fell of a building and landed straight on the corner. Emailed them 3x and no response at all. And because I paid with a debit/credit card not PayPal and overseas purchase my options were zip. So I opened one up and it does sound better on vinyl. But again nothing much. I left the other ones sealed. I was so disgusted I don’t even know if I have the right variants. Side note: I enjoyed the concept of Inside Extremities but thought it should have been part of original reissue. Just make it a proper deluxe packaging. Not a “squeeze every penny out of them” move.

>> Hi fellow Gatherers. Someone responded to me last months digest and I've just been sucked into a personal vortex and haven't had time to reply and haven't been online much. I'll get back to that question when I dig a little into the digest over the next couple of weeks. My apologies.

>> With that said... I chatted with Colesy in the fall of 2017 as I picked up a piece from his 40 years show. He stated they were planning on putting KJ 2003 on Vinyl, with the original idea for the artwork he liked, which was the piece, "resurrection" for his show. It came in 5 panels. This would have been in place of the Warhol-esqe artwork that was chosen for the release from my understanding.

>> So that's cool, the final vinyl piece to the puzzle! I've wanted that for YEARS!!! I just hope the mastering to vinyl, the lacquer cut is done well. I've just always been a little disappointed with the vinyl sound of A.D. and some of MMXII. AD especially imo doesn't sound that great on vinyl. Not sure if this stems from Spinefarm? They seem a little sloppy. They promote KJ horribly here in the states and their distribution seems subpar in the states. Hate to talk shit, but was always a bit disappointed in the production of AD for some otherwise fairly stellar written and great songs. Maybe the muddiness or loudness of trying to capture "live" didn't translate well, especially when set to be done on vinyl. Hey, I own just about everything vinyl by KJ? I've a right to talk shit. Joined the "Service"--got my Wardance papers years ago.

>> What I don't have are the remasters on vinyl except for BTATS. I'm looking for any Gatherer who's got an opinion on the vinyl remasters? Worth it? I do like the BTATS remaster, but its just the C.K. mix hence it's like having an extra KJ record. Love that Raven is loud and clear.
