Ha! I wonder if you were right to be not impressed though. How much do you remember?

I saw JD support Buzzcocks. Wasn't impressed. I was young and naive.

Looking forward to the KJ/Hooky material.
Did anyone here see KJ & JD together?
Come to that, did anyone here see Joy Division?

Jaz’s monthly update
It’s 7am (Mexican time), I don’t know exactly what day it is, but I know we are very close to what has become KJ’s new year's day! There has been death, shock, pain and illness since my last blog but I don’t want to dwell on it.
I miss the gatherings, yes I miss the faces of our KJ community and I know you all want to be vaccinated asap so we can be getting on with music – ‘yes’? Ha ha ha.
Outside my beautiful portent – the tiny scarlet bird called the Cardinal lifts my spirits. The sky is bright blue, the kettle is on for a mug of English Breakfast tea. I will select a Rocky Patel Connecticut for my morning cigar. Fresh papaya and greek yoghurt for breakfast – fuck life's not so bad!!
Let me have just one hit of green – ah wake and bake – superb!
The weather is something non-negotiable with me. After being born in the UK I only want good weather all year round! The light enhances my eternal optimism.
>From a psychological perspective I have deleted the outside world, avoiding exposure to any news whatsoever and I must say, happier for it. You know, being in the now; the fragrance of this cigar, the cat trying to get my attention, my treasured parker pen.
These days I think of camping a lot – sleeping and eating outside because I suppose, like most of you, I miss the wilderness – to be away from the fragmented society. So on Sunday, I intend to do just that and head to the forest and mountains, some two hours away.
Everyone here is talking about how the very popular President of Mexico has been thrown off Facebook. Rule by corporations is Fascism plain and simple. (You see how it just gets me into a negative frame of mind?)
So, I have begun to love my reclusive existence.
I spend a lot of my time thinking about my family and all the people I love.
Fiesta, siesta and prayer!
When I eat, I love to listen to Bossa Nova, and I love to cook for my loved ones (as I did last night!)
As I approach Feb 26th I become aware of our mission in KJ – we were born for this time. I send my love to each and every one of you. The light of Spring beckons. Lift up your spirits. I know of an English village hall in the Cotswolds. If I make it back to the UK this summer, we’ll have a pie and beer party there!

K÷
Counting down til the 5th March with the release the K÷ EP. A three track lost recording from Manchester in 1993 with Peter Hook, Geordie Walker and Jaz.
Jaz recounts…
K÷93 really began in 1980. Both Killing Joke and Joy Division epitomised the third wave of punk by introducing mysticism into the equation. Inevitably, the two bands toured together and we referred to as ‘Southern Stomp’ and ‘Northern Gloom’ by the press back then.
The drummer and guitarist of Joy Division weren’t so friendly and to be frank, a bit non-descript. Ian Curtis was always polite, smiled and said hello, coming across as a somewhat shy character. That being said, he was always at the side of the stage when we did our set. Hooky, however, was another matter
By the time we played the Lyceum together, it was clear that Hooky was a kindred spirit. Which is to say he ran his affairs in a similar gang-like manner to us and was clearly the most original member whose undoubtably unique style of tenor bass defined Joy Division's sound.
This is supported by the fact that when you replace Killing Joke's traditional bass playing with Hooky, a completely new band emerges. Indeed one whose hybrid chemistry and unusual creative capacity is difficult to ignore (as this recording is testament to).
And Hooky…
I first met Killing Joke in 1977/78. They supported us as Joy Division….no I’m joking.
We were doing a double headliner but that attitude, that fight over who was supporting who, that competitiveness summed up our relationship. It was a tussle right from the start. I love Killing Joke, I loved their attitude, I liked their music. Geordie and Raven became my friends, I got to know Jaz much later. There was healthy mutual respect.
We both have had many problems in business and pleasure. But I feel we are all cut from the same cloth… shall we say. I think Geordie is fantastic guitarist and would go and see them whenever they played locally. I saw them at King George’s Hall Blackburn once, I think I was dropping some drugs off, it was great gig, the sound was amazing. Then at the end I got roped in to carry the mixing desk out of the venue, it took 12 of us. I couldn’t believe it was so heavy. Then the sound guy told me it was an all-valve desk. I thought these bastards are as mad as us.
Three track 10” clear vinyl is limited 2,000 copies worldwide and includes a gig flyer postcard.
Tracklisting:
Side 1: Remembrance Day
Side 2: Giving up the Ghost, Scrying |

Jaz strikes hot sauce distribution deal
The Joker Hot Sauce is teaming up with Hot Headz – one of the largest distributors for sauce and condiments in the UK and Europe.
It’s like meets like when the owner of the company is a fan of Killing Joke – he’s obviously got good taste, and taste buds!
Says Stuart, "My first Killing Joke gig was 27th June 1981 here in sunny Stroud. I was 15! Can still remember it like it was yesterday…"
To mark this occasion and Jaz’s birthday, we are discounting The Joker Hot Sauce batch 1.
