Hey Alex.  Long Day, and I decided to sit on my bed and read some of the
Gathering Archives.   Your November 23 2023 post is so close to mine and my
experience.   We're the same age, me discovering them from my big brother,
I believe it was 1983, I was either 14 or 15 because I was a year or 2
younger than my classmates, my silly parents enrolled me in Kindergarten at
age 4.   Anyway.  What a great post.  And somewhat heartfelt.   And your
feelings about bands, music,  etc epitomizes mine exactly and then there is
KILLING JOKE and Geordie.  I did get to get drunk a couple times w/Geordie
after a few shows last US Tour.  His rule was no shop talk.   And why would
I?   And 29 years prior he did something so special for me, prior to a
show. It's a bit of a long story, maybe I'll write it out sometime for The
Gathering.   But decades later he remembered what he did when I told him,
he remembered the day.   He was super cool and really a both a soft hearted
man that had his uncompromising principles.   Geordie totally rips.  I did
get in one piece of shop talk though and I've a funny ass story about the
last show I saw KJ at in Vegas @ Punk Rock Fest.   I should probably write
that up too.  I did say, ok,  no shop talk, but...  I critique set list and
said "at least one time, I wanna hear Walking with God's and The
Lightbringer Live and consecutively".   He fucking loved that!  Hosannas is
such an underrated crushing balls out ripping album and book end to what I
consider 3 periods of KJ.  He didn't say it but the look on his face, he
was extremely proud of his work on that recording. I'm assuming he probably
felt he had something to prove to any contemporaries.  Notwithstanding it's
very operatic as an album in whole.
