[LEN-E] Jodie Foster, Steven Bach, and other news

Hi folks!

As I mentioned recently, I've been busy with other things for the
past while, but from time to time (including today) I've updated the
"LeNiews" section of my site...

http://www.riefenstahl.org/resources/news/

There's been some rather interesting items over the last couple of
months. Just in the last couple of days there's been some articles
about Jodie Foster renewing her work on the Leni film she's been
wanting to make for many years now (which is certainly something to
look forward to, although it's still probably at least a couple of
years away), and you'll also find *many* links to *many* reviews of
the new biographies by Steven Bach (especially) and Jurgen Trimborn.

With regard to these latter, both books are highly critical (i.e.
negative) toward Leni, and most of the reviews do little more than
summarize this take on her, but one will also find the odd article
here and there which is also critical of these biographies themselves
and some of the limitations of the authors' perspective. In addition,
one will also find some interviews with Steven Bach -- which, if one
has a keen and critical eye of one's own, are actually quite
revealing about his not-so-objective slant in writing his book. It
would appear that his goal, in the end, was to trash Leni as best and
as much as he could, without being forgiving, understanding or
compassionate toward her in any way at all, compiling every mistake
and misjudgement she ever made as some definitive (and often
presumptuous and overblown) evidence that she was clearly little more
than a "loathsome" person -- and, based on the majority of reviews of
his book (no doubt mostly by reviewers who know little more about
Leni than what Bach has told them), I suppose he succeeded in that goal. :/

Anyway, there you go -- just browse over to the above URL and you'll
find a good afternoon or evening's worth of reading!

Ron :)
