A few days ago, the PBS show "Frontline" featured a documentary film which was, in fact, nothing less than a mountain film! Indeed, in many ways it was very similar to the early Arnold Fanck films, with the only difference being that it's a true story (and done in a documentary style, of course, with real footage, interviews, etc.). I must say, that it really was extremely well done and right up our alley (those of us interested in the early mountain films and/or mountain climbing in general, at least), and was both thrilling and chilling (literally!) to watch. You can now watch the entire film online, and find more information about it, at... http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/everest/ Ron :) Woof?... http://www.Psymon.com Ach, du Leni!... http://www.Riefenstahl.org Hmm... http://www.Imaginary-Friend.ca From luc.deneulin at skynet.be Sun May 18 12:01:13 2008 From: luc.deneulin at skynet.be (Luc Deneulin) Date: Sun, 18 May 2008 18:01:13 +0200 Subject: [LEN-E] New Book In-Reply-To: <20080517131514.8AE672BD4E@mailwash40.pair.com> References: <20080517131514.8AE672BD4E@mailwash40.pair.com> Message-ID: This one is now available)) Riefenstahl Screened: An Anthology of New Criticism (Paperback) Luc Deneulin Filmstudies Free University Brussels http://users.skynet.be/deneulin/books.html http://users.skynet.be/deneulin/video.html
