I wanted to reply to two messages I've seen.
Health Insurance: The law is 18 months of COBRA, they are not going to =
offer 3 years. There is no evidence of discrimination-the company =
virtually is closing its doors and eliminating the entire sales force, =
etc.
Existing policyholders: The contract is intended to stop agents who =
leave the company from working leads they take with them and trying to =
get existing policy holders to switch ltc policies. You can service =
policyholders, even offer them other products, like prepaid funerals. =
Since LTPC does not offer any products to existing policy holders =
anything other than ltci would not be a competitive product. =20
Leads you have not sold are an interesting issue. Who owns the names of =
the people that you are currently contacting but may not make a decision =
until after June 20? LTPC does not have a sales force to sell insurance =
to these people and the affinity partners contract will end on June 20. =
I would think that the affinity group would want you to follow-up to =
make them happy. There was some talk that LTPC might sell you the leads =
after June 20. (This won't happen. The affinity partnrs won't allow the =
names to be sold, especially if they think another group will eventually =
come to them and have a deal like the one they had with LTPC). If that =
idea became reality it would prove you could work existing leads, or old =
leads as long as you wanted. LTCA could not sell you these leads, they =
did not own them. This week they were instructed to send all leads in a =
market to the agents. The reason- LTPC would like sales on those leads =
by June 20, if there are no sales they know they will never see any =
revenue from them.

It appears that most all of us will be paying more for health =
insurance, especially those over 55. Some may not even be able to obtain =
it.=20
Cendant should allow us to stay on the existing plan at the same rate =
for up to three years. And if you are 60 or older, until you qualify for =
medicare.=20
If you count the number of us over 55, a case could be made for some =
type of discrimination.=20
