Thanks Dayna,
Your perseverance is awesome to have extracted this pearl of wisdom from
Soren Kierkegaard as his writings are a kaleidoscope of ideas and difficult
for a dull mind such as mine to follow. The same thought is to be found in
James Allen’s, small in size but enormous in content, book “As A Man
Thinketh”
I am quoting his poem from memory so a word or two may be out of place but
the message is accurate.
Mind is the master power that molds and makes
And man is mind and evermore he takes
The tool of thought and shaping what he wills
Bringing forth a thousand joys a thousand ills
He thinks in secret and it comes to pass
Environment is but his looking glass

We need to be aware of what we think-for as we think, we are. Our minds
are like extremely powerful magnets pulling the reality of our lives into
place. Whatever the dominant thoughts may be, they in effect create the
quality of our day-by-day living. If we allow our thoughts to be consumed
with the fearful, negative, and defeatist ghosts of the past, then we have
decided what our present shall be since our thoughts determine our reality.
We must make decisions as to whether we will entertain thoughts of the
past-no matter how vivid or persistent-or whether we will choose to think of
something else. We can rise above the conditioning of the past and choose
thoughts of courage, of freedom, of community. Our dominant thoughts form
the outer, concrete reality of our lives.
