Dear Deb;

Thank you for sharing the marvelous story about the WWII veteran =
and fine and accurate observations prepared by George Carlin. It is sad =
that some of the really old timers did not have the guidance earlier in =
life that someone like you could provide. Now, of course, that fine =
gentleman will be at the mercy of whatever the state provides in the way =
of long term care.....hopefully, it will include compassion and kindness =
as well as comfort and care.

As regards Mr. Carlin, I am sorry to learn that he has recently =
lost his wife. His pain must be great as I know mine would be if I =
should lose my wife Shirley after 44 marvelous years. With the help of =
God and the passing of time his pain will lessen a bit but he shall =
always sense that there is something missing in his life....and there =
will be. His many critical observations were worthy of note and all too =
true. Sadly, it would seem that we are all caught up in a large wave of =
such inappropriate behavior and find it difficult to swim against that =
strong current of society. One of the few blessings that come with old =
age is that we tend to find it a little easier to resist that current =
and we abide by the admonitions of Mr. Carlin's words.

We are all doing very fine on our end. My wife and her friends =
are down for a week or so in the Keys and I remain home to care for our =
handicapped kittens. I continue to workout (i.e. my walking and =
jogging) and work daily, indeed, I just returned from three days last =
week on business in D.C. and I am flying out to San Diego on Monday for =
a week of business out west. Our daughter Lori's salon is doing a brisk =
business despite the suspect economy and we look forward to a safe and =
pleasant summer. =20

Hopefully, all is well with you and yours. Please give us a =
call the next time you are in the area so Shirley and I can join you for =
a breakfast or lunch at the Blueberry Muffin...........
