In business today nothing is black and white. Nothing. As I see it and =
as any partially intelligent person with an honest open mind would =
question why Progeny did not close down the insurance end of their =
business. Dah. And the reason is to keep the renewals and I'm sure a =
good host of other tax incentive reasons. Do people really expect others =
to just shut up, and intimidate them by calling them crybabies and try =
to influence them to just walk away with there tale up their you know =
what? Hey I don't know how many of those people are out there, but in my =
book, and it has just a little age on it, 20k in lost income a year is =
still a lot of money. Why would you want to share the proverbial ostrich =
hole especially when the sign says only one ostrich allowed per hole? =
Who is anybody to dictate to anyone else what they should do and not do, =
based on their own good fortune of being vested or foolishness of =
sharing that ostrich hole. If people want to stick their head in the =
hole go right ahead. Hey, I just received some E-mails and was told by =
some that it really is dark down there.
Richard and Doug you have my full support. God bless you. Oh by the way =
is that swiss cheese. You know it has a lot of holes.

  Subject: [LTPC-discussions] Want your opinion

I want to thank those that over the weeks have given their opinion one =
way or another regarding the closing of LTPC. This is an open forum and =
people should not hesitate to give their opinion. =20

The closing of LTPC affected some finically more than others. Just =
because a company goes by the contract doe not mean they follow ethics =
that they tried to instill in us or a code of ethics they signed. =20

Me as just Joe Average agent was in the past few weeks able to uncover =
trends in insurance sales, marketing concepts, financial business =
practices that those executives, financial experts, marketing people in =
Cendant/Progey should have known. Only took me a few clicks to find =
out. =20

Just do a search under banks selling insurance, banks selling long =
care term insurance, financial institutions selling long term care, =
credit unions selling long term care, and you will come up with page =
after page of trends for our business. If I can see these trends maybe =
Progeny did too. =20

Search for bank or credit union, or insurance publications and you =
will see article after article of trends about banks or financial =
institutions selling insurance to customers directly. Keeping profits =
in the bank. If I can read these publications maybe those at Progeny =
read them too and saw trends. =20

A law was passed several years ago that allowed banks to get into the =
insurance business. If I can read all about it and see the trend in =
bank publications than maybe those at Progeny did too. At banking =
conferences over the last few years they would have speakers and =
meetings about the opportunities of financial institutions selling =
insurance, selling LTC policies to customers. I have to assume that =
some from Progeny were at these banking seminars and conferences, and =
maybe listening to the banking trends.

It seems that Progeny by expanding the sales force was going against =
trends in the industry, trends that they had to be aware of. Did they =
see the writing on the wall for our type of agency? If they recognized =
theses trends which are easy to find why did they expand? Was there =
another motive? Building a large sales staff and then shutting down =
before the bulk of agents are vested is one possibility. =20

LTPC in memo's, voice mail, etc., was telling us how great the =
industry was, how great the future plans were about the company, in =
marketing materials and meetings great things were happening. Yet this =
was going against all the trends. New people are hired based on what =
the company is telling them which was contrary to business trends. =20

If you had read these articles about where this industry is going =
since we rely on banks, and credit unions for so much of our marketing =
would you have still joined LTPC?

In January a week before the conference they decide to postpone the =
conference which never takes place. Shortly after training staff is =
eliminated. March first layoff and April decision to close down is made =
if we believe them. Has the closing of LTPC been in the works for a =
long time or was it something that if we believe them was discussed and =
happened this year?

Maybe LTPC/Progeny?Cendant did nothing wrong, maybe they just made bad =
decisions, and maybe that is the case too.

Would like to hear some discussion of this good or bad. Would like =
other opinions.

  Richard
