Subject: LTCI Industry Sales Results for 2002
Below my signature block, you'll find COMDEX ratings as of 15Jul03 for =
the LTCI industry. You'll notice that our straight LTCI product =
carriers (Lincoln Benefit, GE, MetLife, TOLIC and John Hancock) are all =
at the 90th percentile or higher in financial strength. Our combination =
(MoneyGuard) product is sold by Lincoln National which is at the 86th =
percentile. It is a good time to sell for companies with financial =
strength.
I've also updated sales figures for the industry, which I will share =
with you shortly. Here I'll just discuss the carriers we represent and =
compare to the industry as a whole. When I look at the sales figures, I =
combine all of the sales of related companies. For example, I combine =
all of the Aegon companies and I split the Federal government case =
between John Hancock and MetLife. Our carriers ranked #1 (GE), #2 (John =
Hancock), #3 (MetLife), #6 (Transamerica) and #8 (LBL) in new sales =
annual premium in 2002. Together, their sales accounted for well over =
50% of the industry's sales, as reported in Broker World, July 2003. =20
Our carriers' collective sales increased 37% in 2002, spurred by John =
Hancock, MetLife and LBL, while the rest of the industry dropped about =
7%. This underscores the "flight to quality" in the industry.=20
As regards amount of in force premium, their rankings are #1, #2, #9, =
#5, and #15 respectively.=20
By the way, we are just getting the capability to obtain a 5% discount =
for anyone buying MetLife's LTCI. It will cost the client $60 to join =
an association which has endorsed MetLife. Your commission rate remains =
the same, even with the discount!=20
If you'd like to be contracted with more of our carriers, please contact =
me. =20
Sincerely,=20
