FamilyTreeDNA has announced a promotional offer to encourage individuals Y-DNA
tested at other laboratories to join a project at FTDNA and be retested with
them.  Below is the link to an order form and listing of the benefits of doing

I would add that, from a practical standpoint, probably the best reason to do so
is that, once you are in the FTDNA database, you will automatically be notified
whenever you have a full or near DNA match.  No more checking and re-checking in
public databases to see if you have a match.  Not that you can't continue to
re-check periodically, only that you will automatically be notified of matches
in the world's largest Y-DNA database.

Subject: [RASEY-DNA] Holiday Gift Certificates

Hello List,

FamilyTreeDNA is again offering its holiday gift certificates.  This is a great
time to join and be tested or to give testing as a holiday gift.  The project
has been given six certificates:

two $30 certificates towards a Y-DNA-37 test;
two $15 certificates towards a Y-DNA-25 test;
and two $15 certificates towards an mtDNA test.

Terms of the certificates are 1) that they be used only for new members (new
kits), not upgrades, 2) that they are not valid in conjunction with any other
promotion, and 3) that the kit must be ordered *and paid for* by 31 Dec 2007.
Any certificates not used by December 31st will expire.

You can use the certificate and purchase the kit, even if you haven't decided
yet who will use it.  The kits have a virtually indefinite shelf-life (until the
samples are actually taken), so you could purchase a kit now and use it later.

(off list).

P.S.  As the RASEY project is Y-DNA only, no female can permanently join.
However, as a perk to our female RASEYs, two RASEY females will be allowed to
join and use the certificates.  When results return, each can move to the
appropriate haplogroup.
