From list at tomhunter.com Tue Dec 1 13:00:59 2009 From: list at tomhunter.com (Tom Hunter - The Song Growing Co.) Date: Tue, 1 Dec 2009 10:00:59 -0800 Subject: Many a Musing from Tom Hunter's Song Growing Co. Message-ID: Greetings from our wet and blustery corner of the country as the holiday season picks up momentum. This year has brought a lot of questions we're wrestling with. Without Tom around, there's a growing sense that something needs to happen with his music and the Song Growing Co. to keep it going. We're doing the best we can with the time and resources we have, but what's next? New products? (i.e. re-releasing vinyl on CD, songbooks, compilation CDs, etc.) Are there any big name artists who might like to use Tom's songs and if so, how do we do that? There are a few projects we've talked about, but aren't sure where we should ultimately put our limited resources. We'd like your input. If you have any suggestions about what the next step might be for Tom's music, feel free to let us know - your ideas are always welcomed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are pleased to announce this years' seasonal special at our online store (www.tomhunter.com/store.htm): All CDs are just $10 each through December 17! What a deal!! (NOTE: This special ends at midnight on December 17th. If you place an order by then, odds are really really good that it will arrive in time for Christmas. Orders placed after the 17th are kind of iffy.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom wrote a poem a few Thanksgivings ago that we think is worth sharing again. In these days of hype and lights, Of issues, war, and length'ning nights, Please join me in another mood That reaches deep in gratitude For all who care for children. Some create strong loving homes So kids will know they're not alone. Some help out where homes aren't strong So kids still know that they belong >From the care that's shared with children. Others welcome children in To learn and grow and draw and sing - These teachers who look way past tests To give kids what they know is best In the way they care for children. What is here just starts the list So please add those we prob'ly missed. We all shine bright for what you do. Thank you, every one of you, For the ways you care for children. -- Tom Hunter (Click hereto see a PDF of this poem with an amazing picture in the background.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's all for now. Big thanks to all who are doing what they believe is right for children and to those of you who are using Tom's songs and continuing to get his ideas and music out there - we're grateful. Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!! -- Aeden & Gwen PS: The 2009 Northwest Teachers' Conference started by Tom and Richard Scholtz 14 years ago was wonderful, and we urge you to consider attending the 2010 Conference.
