The Road To Wigan Pier: A (Socialist) Tea-Time Travelogue & Historical Musical Revue heaves itself to the Off Center -- fondly known as the 7th Street Working Men's Club to our Lanky lads and lasses -- for a four-week run of mirth, mayhem, music, memories, and tea. It plays Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday nights at 8pm from January 15 through February 7, with a single Sunday matinee on January 25 at 2pm. Entry is by sliding scale: $5-$20; unemployed may enter for a mere 50 cents. Want to see the play for FREE? Be a bouncer for one night (you'll have to stand outside, imposingly, from 7:00pm until 11:00pm); we'll give you two complimentary tickets for any night you like (plus some warm drinks on the night). Contact robi@latejoys.com for more information. Those willing to pay cash money (sorry, we can't take credit cards) can click over to http://www.latejoys.com/boxoffice.html and see how to secure seats for the roiling event. Don't believe a word of it. (Okay, okay, believe some of it; read the reviews at http://www.latejoys.com/postreview.html.) Better still, come see for yourself: There are two weekends left for you to experience "world-famous" Wigan Pier. Take your chance at the nightly raffle ("Dinner for Two and a Movie!"), sippa cuppa tea, and catch mysterious lumpy carbon-based substances in action (no, no, not the actors! coal!). We're up Thursday (tonight), Friday, and Saturday at 8pm -- get there early! (Find out how to find us at http://www.latejoys.com/boxoffice.html.) Come take your lumps (of coal) with the lads and lasses of the 7th Street Working Men's Club while we've still got a job to do. Thank you. And We're Closing Down, Too! Yes, it's here at last: the final weekend of The Road To Wigan Pier: A (Socialist) Tea-Time Travelogue & Historical Musical Revue, performed by the happy-go-lucky lads & lasses of the 7th Street Working Men's Club. This means two things: The First Thing -- If you've not seen the play yet, well, you only have three more chances to drop by for that ubiquitous cuppa and a bit of entertainment: Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. at the Off Center (there's a map at the bottom of this verbose page: http://www.latejoys.com/boxoffice.html ) Please come early (we're open for business at 7:15 p.m.) -- we're turning people away, and we don't want to send YOU out into the cold Lanky air un-entertained! (HINT: Thursday and Friday nights are still the easiest to get into the club. But come when you can -- we'd love to see you at our wee knees-up, whenever you can make it.) The Second Thing -- You won't have to read these e-mail messages from me any more (just one final one coming next week, promise!) As ever, surf our fab website for way too much information about the play, and where it comes from ('e does go on, doesn't 'e?): http://www.latejoys.com And thank you for all your support over the past months while we've cobbled together what we think is a bit of a good night out! Please, come see for yourself, and if you've already seen us in action, come again. Or tell your friends -- they won't be any the wiser! Cheers, Robi p.s. Please make sure you've registered to vote in 2004! After four weeks of creating a public nuisance of ourselves, we've packed up and closed shop. The Road To Wigan Pier: A (Socialist) Tea-Time Travelogue & Historical Musical Revue has closed -- thank you for letting us share that rare ol' 'istory with you. It was our pleasure, truly. To everyone who helped out over the last two years as we cobbled this thing together -- thank you! But wait, ladies & gentlemen: We've a little bit of business left... We promise we're not going to be sending you any more messages from the 7th Street Working Men's Club UNLESS YOU WANT US TO KEEP YOU INFORMED OF ANY FUTURE UNDERTAKINGS. For now, the only things that might be on the horizon are Late Joys reunions, and the possibility of some agit-prop political theatre for the election season. IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE NOTICES OF SUCH THINGS, PLEASE LET US KNOW NOW, or we'll purge your name from our e-mail list. Finally, we're keeping the Wigan Pier website up for a while longer -- it has production photos, reviews and comments, and other things perhaps worth looking over. We'll try to keep it interesting! Drop by for a look-see, and you are always welcome to write us with comments or questions. http://www.latejoys.com is where you'll find us. Thank you, The lads and lasses of the 7th Street Working Men's Club
