[kj] Democracy

Probably one of the main reasons that Democracy is not so highly revered is
to do with the production - I don't know if you caught any of the shows
(Europe only) but Aeon featured a hypnotic techno-loop intro. Rumour has it
this featured on the album version until Youth took it off. The fact that
the album has not properly toured (and the only shows featured the other
Prong bassist, although most people probably thought is was just Youth with
a flying-V bass !) did not enhance anybody's views - at Amsterdam only Aeon
& Savage Freedom from the new album were aired. The single was a bit weak
too. It has some enjoyable moments (notably SF, Intellect) but not their
best - Killing Joke are much better when they sound menacing. It's probably
the same reason why OTG is so universally despised - I've always been rather
fond of it myself. Anyway, I'm sure everyone loves Absent Friends - very
much classic KJ - maybe just not enough of it on there. I still enjoy it
though.
