"The Ramones were never more than a cult band"....Uhhmmm Yeah.  Punk is a 
cult.  As big and briefly as the Sex Pistols were they are a cult.  IT was a 
cult following.  Killing Joke have a cult following.  Just because the 
Ramones did not sell a million records does not disqualify them from 
starting punk.  Billie Haley and the Comets are credited for having the 
first rock 'n roll record.  It doesn't amke it a great record or a popular 
record.  ti si just a fact.

FACT Ramones started punk

Fact the Sex Pistols, The Damned, the Clash and countless others started 
after seeing the Ramones tour of the UK (and it was either 76 or 77)
