[kj] Jaz would nt appreciate this article

I went to Boston in 95, and took the train up to Salem. Some of the
first stops (Chelsea?) were among the roughest areas that I've ever
passed through. It was the nearest thing I've ever been to a shanty
town, yet its only a couple of miles outside the riches of central
Boston.

Yeah, and I have several friends in Boston (US), usually considered a
pretty rich town, that can't pay their bills, can't buy new clothes,
live in shitty places, and in some cases run out of food money. The fact
is that Peter West is a follower of some kind of Libertarian or
Objectivist ideology, or is just a foolish, angry right-winger. Plus he
has psychological issues and just likes to piss people off. But it's
good that on this list we stand up to the few right-wingers--the only
way to deal with their ideas is to crush them. And given the current
state of the world (wars, growing poverty and disease) we must do just
that!

How many poor people do you know wearing new shoes, driving a car and
using
their cell phone?
The answer is easy.... you are not part of the poor. You're a mid-class
guy.
At the end I don't know if the poor are getting poorer, but what is
absolutely
true is that the rich are getting richer.
Here in Mexico we have Carlos Slim who's the 4th richer guy in the world
(if not
exactly he's always into the top 10). He's getting richer every single
day, and
against many people could think he's not a complete bastard, just a
little bit
(at least he has made some things to restore antique zones of cities,
parks,
etc.).
In contrast we have about 15/20% of population comformed by very poor
people, I
mean POOR PEOPLE without any basic services (water, electricity, etc).
