[kj] OT: AVI audio problems...

Sorry, my post was a little misleading - I can view them no problem
(Windows Media Player is fine), I just can't work with them.  I'm trying
to author them to DVD with chapters etc to watch at home but am having
no luck with this particular batch of AVIs.
 
I'll keep fiddling...

Most of the TV we potangas watch is downloaded & I occasionally have
audio problems with some .avi files - unsupported format etc. 
Dunno if you're on a mac but I use Visual Hub to convert them.
Quicktime may well do it as well as some DIVx players & VLC.
Try playing the files using different media players?
Occasionally burning them to CD/DVD as a DIVx disc can remedy audio
problems too & IU think Toast & the like can export files with different
audio encoding.
