Hats off to you; especially for Special Ed. You deserve twice the respect
and triple the pay!
I used to T.A. at an elementary school right next door to Whidney High
[of Kids From Whidney High fame] and if it's one thing i learned is that..they're
just people, with things going on, that's it. I have a cousin who now teaches at Whidney.
... ... ... ... ... ...
[looking at the current state of things]
'Save me...
save me from Tomorrow..
I don't want to sail in this Ship Of Fools...!'

I pretty much agree w/ you on this Brendan. As a US high school special education teacher, I don't spend a lot of time giving paper-thin praise to my students--when they do get good grades, that's praise enough for them. (And I 'm pretty honest about telling them when they're doing well and when they're not). Also, about 10 years ago I worked teaching dyslexic adults how to read--they needed no praise at all; they were happier than a pig in shit every time their reading improved a bit!
