[kj] SWANS touring in October

Saw them once at the Town & Country Club in Kentish Town, when it was
stupidly, ridiculously loud (do
they still do that?) This was the early 90s I think. The whole standing
area of the venue cleared out, half the audience left and the
rest were pressed up in the bar/toilet area, gritting their teeth. I lasted
about six songs, then had to
leave. There was one trashed bloke standing in front of one of the speaker
stacks, if he didn't have
ear protection then I guess his hearing was probably screwed for life after
that. It was sort of funny,
but then I didn't pay for my ticket. Presumably they were known for doing
this - I didn't know much about them,
went with a friend trying to convert me (you can imagine how that went) -
so maybe people just bought a ticket to say 'I was there'.
